Norwich boss Hughton excited by Leroy Fer form

Norwich City boss Chris Hughton is delighted with the form of Leroy Fer.

Dutch midfielder Fer was outstanding against Manchester City on Saturday, typifying the Canaries' battling display to get a goalless draw just three months after shipping seven to the same opposition at the Etihad.

"I thought Leroy was excellent," said Hughton. "We gave him a little bit of a different role, which allowed him a little bit more freedom. He's one of our better players on the ball. He's the one you want to get on the ball.

"He's still adjusting. This is a player that was brought up in the Dutch League, they play very different in midfield and in most occasions he would have played in a three in midfield.

"He has had to adjust to the game and with that come some ups and downs but I did think he was very good.

"There have been ups and downs. He was good for us against City, he hasn't always been that good. It's about adjusting. He's only missed two games this season. He's come from a different way of playing.

"He's had to adjust to the tempo of what we have here and if you're a central midfield player in the Premier League, it's a different tempo to anywhere. Overall, we've been delighted with the way he's adjusted."
