Norwich boss Hughton defends goal-shy Van Wolfswinkel

Norwich City boss Chris Hughton has defended goal-shy striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel.<

Fed up fans have cruelly dubbed him a sheep in wolf's clothing after just one goal and only four shots in 14 Premier League games so far this season.

Hughton said: "It's frustrating for him because he is used to scoring goals regularly and playing well in most games.

"Sometimes it just takes people time to settle in at a new club and some players need more time to adjust than others.

"But in terms of what he is bringing to the team - his work rate and his commitment - I simply cannot fault him.

"He works hard and he trains really hard every day and I think it's just a question of confidence now. Just one goal would make the world of difference for him.

"But we signed him for a lot of money and he is an integral part of what we are trying to achieve here at Norwich."
