Norwich City winger Jacob Murphy again shone for Coventry City in victory at League One rivals Colchester.
Murphy scored twice for the Sky Blues, who were 3-1 winners at Colchester despite falling behind to a strike from last week's four-goal FA Cup star Macauley Bonne.
Murphy's brace gave Coventry the advantage, though, and Marc-Antoine Fortune added another.
But Tony Mowbray's side were unable to grab top spot as Gillingham's goal difference is one better than theirs.
