Northern Ireland call for Derby keeper Carroll

New Derby County signing Roy Carroll is set to receive an approach from Northern Ireland to reconsider his international retirement.

"I will let Roy settle in at Derby over the next few weeks, get some games under his belt and then ask him if he's ready to come back," said Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington.

"Hopefully he'll be ready to fight for his place against Maik Taylor.

"Roy has moved to Derby, I watched him play against Birmingham at the weekend and although he didn't have a whole lot to do, he did well.

"I'll have a chat with him and find out what his thoughts are."
