Northeast Utd hold FC Goa 1-1 in HeroISL

Northeast United held FC Goa to a 1-1 draw in their latest HeroISL fixture.

Gregory Arnolin gave Goa the lead after a howler from goalkeeper T P Rehenesh. But Northeast were soon level before halftime after Debabrata Roy fouled Robin Gurung inside the United penalty area.

Koke stepped up to the spot and slotted home.

Goa midfielder Robert Pires said afterwards: "I believe the words of my teammates were that it was important to get the one point, but I think it was important to get the three points out of this match. For the next game, we're up against the favourites, Atlético de Kolkata, they've been very good, strong and clinical but it's football so anything is possible. We have a long trip back to Goa tomorrow and we need to win for our fans."
