League Two Northampton Town have signed former Newcastle United striker JJ Hooper on a one-year contract with an option of a further year. The 19-year-old signs after a successful trial with the Cobblers.
"He has an awful lot to do and a lot to learn but he has potential, how well he does and how far he goes is down to JJ," boss Aidy Boothroyd told the club's website.
"JJ is a very talented individual, I expect him to be challenging for a first team place towards the end of the season.
"We are giving him an opportunity to make a name for himself and to get his career going," added the Cobblers boss.
