Northampton chairman hints dressing room unrest caused Johnson departure
Northampton chairman David Cardoza believes dressing room disharmony was a possible cause in manager Gary Johnson leaving the club by mutual consent. Johnson had only been at Sixfields for eight months and while Cardoza stressed he is not disappointed in Johnson's efforts, he did feel the former Bristol City boss did not have the full support of his players.
Cardoza told Northampton Player: "We've got a lot of players, I would imagine that there are a few that aren't happy, we watch the same game it's clear that some them aren't. Believe it or not, I don't know necessarily why. What goes on in the changing room stays there even to me and I may never know.
"Some of the players out there need to take a good look at themselves because there's one or two that haven't performed anywhere near the level that I know they can and I certainly expect them to be improving very quickly.
"I don't feel let down by Gary, I think Gary's given it his all. It hasn't happened so we move on."
