North Queensland Fury goalkeeper Paul Henderson is remaining positive despite seeing eight goals go past him in the opening three rounds.

The former Leicester City custodian was almost back to his best on Saturday night, despite the Fury losing 1-0 at home to Melbourne Victory, making a number of crucial saves to keep his team in the game.

Henderson revealed he was becoming more confident and believed the Fury's performances were improving.

''You want to go into every game and try and not make any saves, it makes your job a lot easier, but on the flip side it is good to make a few saves,'' he said.

''When you make saves you always get a bit more confident and it was fortunate for me I guessed right both ways, both times.

''Credit to the boys, after last week's result (a 5-0 loss to Gold Coast), it's a much better performance, we played much, much better,'' Henderson added.

"We did a lot of work at training, did a lot of shape and things like that and I think you could tell we looked a lot more solid."

The Fury will be out to notch up their first win this Friday night when they tackle Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium.
