A-League club North Queensland Fury are reportedly interested in having former Australia international Paul Okon as their head coach.
The former Lazio, Fiorentina, Middlesbrough and Leeds midfielder was unceremoniously dumped as assistant coach of Gold Coast United last season but reports suggest that he is a well-credentialed to take the head role at the Fury.
Okon is in Sydney undergoing his A-level coaching badges which will be required by all A-League coaches but league chief Archie Fraser said that the Fury, currently being run by Football Federation Australia, have not approached him in regards to the position.
''I haven't spoken to any coaches yet and we haven't finalised the coaching selection panel yet,'' Fraser said. ''We're still formulating the criteria for the position.''
