North Queensland Fury coach Franz Straka has blamed a cluttered schedule for his side's downfall in their loss to Newcastle Jets on Saturday night.

The Fury were well on top of their rivals at Dairy Farmers Stadium in the first 45 minutes but ran out of puff in the second half to eventually lose 2-0 in their third match for the week.

Straka said it was wrong that the A-League forced them to play so many games in such a short space of time.

"This team had only 48 hours to the game (and) it was the point," Straka said.

"We did the first half so well, we were so strong it was definitely an unlucky game but in the second half we didn't have any more power. But the question is, how is this possible?

"We play on Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday, how is this possible?"

And Straka said his side would have to deal with a similarly cluttered schedule in the New Year which he believes is unfair.

"January is the same for the squad, we have (four) games in 12 days how can you do that?" he added.

"It could be good for everybody if we had the same rules.

"Don't forget the travel to Townsville - if we travel to Adelaide it is always about five, six hours, seven hours.

"If you only have 48 hours to go into the next game, it's impossible, I'm sorry."
