Nordtfeldt thrilled to make move from Heerenveen to Swansea

Kristoffer Nordfeldt admits it is the perfect time to make a move from the Dutch Eredivisie to the Premier League.

The Swedish goalkeeper, who turned 26 today, has signed a three-year deal with Swansea City who he has joined from Heerenveen for an undisclosed fee.

Upon sealing his transfer to the Liberty Stadium, Nordfeldt spoke of his desire to step up to England's top flight and was looking forward to becoming part of the Swansea family.

"I am really happy to be here at Swansea - this is the perfect birthday gift for me!" he told the club's official website.

"I think this is the right step for me to take from the Dutch Eredivisie to Swansea in the Premier League.

"The Dutch way of playing football is about possession play and it all begins with the goalkeeper. That's something I'm comfortable with, but I'm also hoping to improve on that here.

"First of all I want to improve myself and help the squad and club move forward. That's my main goal.

"The Premier League is a great league, but what attracted me most was the vision of the club and everyone who works here is really warm and welcoming. That was the main reason for me joining Swansea.

"Swansea as a club is a like a big family, and the ambitions of the club fits with my own ambitions."
