Nolan: Newcastle must draw a line under the Hughton era

Newcastle skipper Kevin Nolan is confident he and his team-mates will move on quickly from the disappointment of losing manager Chris Hughton. Nolan, who trained for the first time under new boss Alan Pardew on Friday morning, is adamant the players' unhappiness will not distract them from their survival mission.

Writing in his programme notes ahead of Saturday evening's clash with Liverpool, he said: "We can't deny it's been a tough week.

"But we know have to put it behind us and, as players, we have to move on.

"We have accepted what has happened and we will move on. As players, we are now concentrating on getting a good result against Liverpool."

He added: "I speak for all of the players when I say we were disappointed to see Chris leave the club.

"It's no secret that everyone was saddened to see him go.

"I'm sure Chris will go on to be a success wherever he goes next, and we wish him all the very best for the future and thank him for everything he achieved here.

"Hopefully we can carry on the good work he put in during his time here.

"We simply have to stick together and rely on the great spirit that exists at this club."
