Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has avoided serious injury after breaking down in action for England.

The Times says the Geordie sustained a thigh injury in training at the Khalifa International Stadium on Friday, which forced Carrick to miss the match against Brazil.

But a scan taken a day later suggested that the midfield player could be fit in time to play for United against Everton on Saturday.
