Walter Smith has no interest in making a sensational return to the Scotland job, reports the Scottish Sun. Bookies had installed the 61-year-old as second favourite behind Dundee United manager Craig Levein, but Smith will not take the job.
He led Scotland to 13th in the world and many had hoped that the Ibrox supremo would again answer a desperate SOS.
But no official SFA approach has yet been made to Smith and it's understood the Ibrox chief would not welcome one either.
It's believed Smith was SFA president George Peat's top choice with Levein a close second.
