No rift at Birmingham over Espinoza signing

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish says there are no problems at board level following the signing of defender Giovanny Espinoza.

Reports suggested that McLeish and co-owner David Sullivan did not see eye-to-eye in regards to the transfer but those rumours have been quashed.

"There are absolutely no problems with the board," said McLeish.

"I'm happy with all the signings and happy with the support I've had, to suggest otherwise is ridiculous.

"The board has given me great backing so far so I'm dismayed by claims suggesting I am not happy with the signing of Espinoza," he added.

"The deal made good financial sense and, although he's a rookie in English terms, he has vast international experience."
