Werder Bremen general manager Thomas Eichin has denied claims that Real Sociedad are honing in on Franco Di Santo.

Reports suggest that the Argentine striker, formerly of Wigan Athletic, was the subject of significant interest from Sociedad but Eichin was quick to play down the speculation.

"No one has tried to get in touch with me (about the availability of Franco Di Santo)," Eichin told Kreiszeitung Syke.

"Franco is an important player for Werder Bremen. He is fully part of our plans for the new season."

Di Santo joined Bremen from Wigan last summer and scored four goals in 23 Bundesliga appearances last season.
