Michael Owen will have to be patient before he becomes a first team starter according to the man who knows best - Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.
As Ferguson tries to create a partnership between Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney up front, Owen has to bide his time and wait for the right opportunity.
"Owen will play, just maybe not early in the season. We are trying to get a blend of Berbatov and Rooney - so Owen doesn't come in to the equation," Ferguson said.
"I explained to Owen why he has not been involved. The season has not really started. Because of the internationals we're not really playing Saturday and Wednesday."
Owen has started just once since joining United earlier in the summer.
