No one would have believed this could happen to Rangers – Tottenham’s Redknapp

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says he never thought he would see the day where Rangers fell into financial difficulty.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says he never thought he would see the day where Rangers fell into financial difficulty.

The Glasgow giants are trying desperately to pull themselves out of administration and get back to regular operating ways but, nonetheless, one of Scotland’s two biggest clubs have experienced an almighty fall from grace.

Redknapp, who has experienced similar events whilst at Portsmouth, admits it has been an enormous surprise to see the happenings at Ibrox and feels for manager Ally McCoist.

"To see what Ally's going through a Rangers is beyond belief. Rangers are one of the great clubs of the world. No one could ever have imagined they would go into administration,” he told SunSport.

"My old club Portsmouth is a decent size club. They are now back in administration and that saddens me.

"But Rangers? It's incredible and I feel so sorry for Ally. He's a great guy, I think he's a fantastic fella.

"I can't comprehend Rangers' situation. But it's all an experience for Ally and one day he'll look back on it as an unbelievable learning curve.

"He'll come through this and be a better manager for it.

"I really hope when they get new owners he's given the resources he deserves to have a proper go at making Rangers successful."
