Sir Alex Ferguson's assistant has been tipped to succeed Luiz Felipe Scolari as Portugal manager and he has been linked with a number of other clubs including Benfica.

Queiroz accepts that nothing is ever a sure thing in football but does expect to continue in his current role for at least the near future.

"I've been in the game too long to plan with any certainty beyond today," he said in the Daily Express.

"But in all likelihood I will be in South Africa next month with United for their pre-season tour."
