No divided loyalties for Celtic's Lustig as CL beckons

Mikael Lustig is determined to gain qualification into this season's Champions League with Celtic.

The Swedish defender and his teammates are preparing for the first leg of their final play-off against homeland club Helsingborgs tomorrow night, before the return leg at home next week, and is hoping for a good start against a side who has bounced back to top form domestically in recent weeks.

"Helsingborgs see themselves as the underdogs and they have everything to aim for," Lustig told the club's official website. "And they are a better team than Helsinki. (third-round play-off opponents).

"They're pretty strong and they're on a good run just now so they have a lot of confidence. I've seen some of their games this season and we are going to meet a very good team.

"They didn't have a great start to the season, but they've been playing really well recently and are scoring a lot of goals."

But Lustig was looking to stop Helsingborgs' run of late and book a place in Europe's premier club competition.

"It's the Champions League and you always dream about playing in that competition," he said. "It would be great for every player if we can qualify - it's a chance to play at the highest level of European football," he added.
