No disciplinary action for Liverpool's Gerrard

The Football Association have decided not to take any further action in regards to a 'V' sign made by Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard towards referee Andre Marriner on Monday night.

Gerrard made the gesture after he was booked in the 81st minute of the 1-0 loss to Wigan at DW Stadium but it is believed Marriner saw it at the time and did not want to push it any further so the FA dropped it.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez claimed Gerrard's sign meant nothing.

"Sometimes you move your fingers. It was nothing. We are not considering it, it was nothing," Benitez said.

"All the players know they have to behave on the pitch. I was more worried about the silly fouls we were giving to Wigan."
