The first selection in the 2011 Super Draft, Omar Salgado, put his dismal start to his Vancouver Whitecaps career behind him by starring in a pre-season friendly on Sunday.
The 17-year old admitted he was disappointed by his performance in a match in Phoenix but bounced back to score once and set up another as his side defeated Seattle Sounders 3-2 at the Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Washington.
Caps coach Teitur Thordarson said it was good for Salgado to put in a positive performance after being so frustrated after the Timbers match.
"He was frustrated and very unhappy with himself," Thordarson said.
"I said to him, 'Just forget it. Our game is a game of mistakes. You have to refocus and get back on track. Don't think about it.' And that's what he's been doing. He was great."
