Nike are set to win the battle for Manchester United's kit sponsorship. The Sunday Express says United are closing in on a world-record $1billion kit sponsorship deal with Nike that could pour £70million a year into the club coffers.
Nike's current 13-year deal ends in 2015 and they want to continue their link with their flagship Premier League club.
But it ail mean a hefty increase on the existing £23.5m yearly investment, with those close to the deal predicting a staggering £70m-a-year final agreed figure.
There is also talk of another long term tie up - probably 10 years rather than another 13 year commitment.
That will mean United banking £700m or $1.1bn, dwarfing the current top kit deal, the £31m a year Adidas pay Real Madrid.
