Nigeria striker Iheanacho excited to face 'idol' Messi

Leicester City and Nigeria striker Kelechi Iheanacho cannot wait to face off against his idol - Lionel Messi.

Iheanacho is part of the preliminary Nigeria squad that will participate in this summer's World Cup in Russia.

Nigeria are drawn into a group where they will face Argentina, Iceland and Croatia. Simply progressing from the group will be a tough task for the Nigerians.

Iheanacho spoke about facing off against Messi in an interview with LCFC TV last month.

"I've had the opportunity to train with him [Messi] when I was at the [Manchester] City Academy and he is something else," Iheanacho said in the interview.

"I hope we get something against them and he's going to play, so it's going to be something good, a memory to play against Messi. He's one of my idols so I look up to him.

"He's so many people's idol in the world so he's a player you like to play with, to learn something, of course, so I will be happy to play against him."
