The Nigerian Football Association (NFA) will make a formal report to the English FA over statements credited to Everton FC boss, David Moyes, which seemed to cast some doubt on the true age of his Nigerian striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni, and Nigerian players in general.
NFA spokesperson Demola Olajire told kickoffnigeria.com that the Nigerian FA would be sending a "strongly worded" letter to the English FA, asking for sanctions to be placed on the Scotsman for his "snide" statement.
"His statement is insulting to the Nigerian nation and unbecoming of a Premiership manager," he told the website.
"We don't take kindly to snide remarks about our players, or our nation, and we will be lodging a strongly-worded complaint to the English FA to sanction him."
After Everton's 6-1 UEFA cup demolition of SK Brann on Thursday, David Moyes was quoted by the Guardian as saying, "What people don't appreciate is that he's only 25, albeit a Nigerian 25, and so if that is his age he's still got a good few years ahead of him."
Also speaking with kickoffnigeria.com was former captain of Nigerian league side Dolphin FC, Ahmed Abdurrahman, who accused Moyes of racism.
"It was a racist comment," he stated.
"If Yakubu was Brazilian or European, would he have called it Brazilian or European age?"
