Nigeria chasing Swansea striker Tammy Abraham

Nigeria are pushing to tempt Swansea City striker Tammy Abraham away from England.

The London Evening Standard says Chelsea starlet Abraham, who is currently on loan at Swansea, has been a regular in Aidy Boothroyd's England Under-21 side over the past year but is eligible to declare for Nigeria through his father.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) first expressed an interest in convincing Abraham to switch in July 2016, since when he has enjoyed a highly-successful loan spell at Championship side Bristol City before joining Swansea, for whom he scored a first Premier League goal in a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace last month.

NFF president Amaju Pinnick hopes that his friendship with the striker's father can convince Abraham to declare for the Super Eagles.

"We are working on getting Abraham," said Pinnick. “Tammy is like my son. His father and I grew up in the same neighbourhood.

“So when they talk about him, I just laugh because I know what to do."
