Nigeria boss Berti Vogts hopes to lure Manchester City defender Nedum Onuoha away from England.

Onuoha was born in Nigeria but has turned out for England Under-21s.

Yet Vogts faces a race against time as Onuoha cannot switch allegiances after his 21st birthday on November 12.

Vogts said: "I have to speak with him and let him know he has a good opportunity to do well with Nigeria.

"He hasn't much time to decide. I hope he can see the great players we have and decide to become part of such an exciting group."
