Nigeria are making a serious push to cap Wigan Athletic striker Victor Moses ahead of England.
The England Under 19 star sealed a £2.5million move to the DW Stadium in the January transfer window from Crystal Palace.
The Daily Mail says Nigeria have set their sights on trying to persuade Moses to commit to them. They failed with an initial bid to get him to turn his back on England last May. The African side are due to face Paraguay in London on March 3 and the Nigerian Football Federation are expected to name a squad of fringe players.
Nigeria, who finished third in the recent Africa Cup of Nations, have made contact with Moses about the prospect of joining that squad. He was born in Kaduna, Nigeria, but fled to England as an 11-year-old after both his parents were murdered. Despite coming through the ranks in England's junior sides, the 19-year-old forward still has strong ties with his birth country.
Nigeria hope that his past, together with the lure of a World Cup place in the summer, will be enough for Moses to pledge his allegiance to them.
