New England head coach and ex Liverpool playing legend Steve Nicol is somewhat perplexed as to why his team is facing so many injuries at the start of the season.

New England head coach and ex Liverpool playing legend Steve Nicol is somewhat perplexed as to why his team is facing so many injuries at the start of the season.

Out for the first match against San Jose are Taylor Twellman (neck pain), Gabriel Badilla (lower back sprain), Mauricio Castro (hamstring), Steve Ralston (quadriceps), goalkeeper Zach Simmons (shoulder strain) and Jeff Larentowicz (hip strain).

"We haven't done anything different than we've done in the past," Nicol told his team's website "We've had injuries to start the season in the past too. It's hard to put your finger on it."
