Nicky Butt is set to be named new U18 coach of Manchester United.
The Daily Mail says Butt is set to take over as manager of Manchester United Under 18s for the rest of the season after Paul McGuinness became the first victim of an academy overhaul.
McGuinness, the son of former United boss Wilf, confirmed on Friday evening that he has parted company with the club after 11 years in charge of the youth team.
The 49-year-old came through United's academy system and returned to the club in a coaching role at the end of his playing career. But McGuinness has paid the price for a dreadful run of 12 straight league defeats and a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea in the FA Youth Cup.
