Nice striker Mario Balotelli has dismissed criticism coming from Italy.

The former AC Milan forward was hammered over his fitness when with the Azzurri this week.

“Reading people's comments and seeing how many people hate me in Italy is really nice," Balotelli responded on social media.

“When things go well I hope they will continue to hate me and not support me - it's only right to be consistent.

“P.s, there was definitely a real and valid reason I didn't want to return to Serie A, I think it's clear now…"
