The San Jose Earthquakes are set to get new minority owners through The Sharks, a hockey team in the NHL, who are set to purchase a 10 to 15 percent stake in MLS's Earthquakes. San Jose owner Lewis Wolff who also has an interest in baseball confirmed the deal to Sports Business Journal.
Early estimates say it will be worth between $2 and $3 million.
"It's a done deal," Wolff said. "It will help us as we continue to grow."
The two teams will share databases of fans and cross-promote each entities games, as well as coordinate marketing strategies.
