Ng wants to make history, not money, with Rangers

Bill Ng, who is bidding to take over Rangers FC, says he wants to take control of the club to make history rather than money.

The Singapore businessman heads a five-man consortium who are one of three bidders interested in purchasing majority shareholdings from discredited chairman Craig Whyte and he insists his plans to oversee things at Ibrox do not stem from wanting financial gain.

"If our bid is successful, we want to assure fans of Rangers we are not just doing this for financial reasons," said Ng, who has lodged a £20million bid with administrators Duff & Phelps.

"If we take over Rangers will not be history, Rangers will make history.

"Not wanting to see the club with a rich heritage going into history, my consortium put up a bid.

"We believe we can do a little better than the previous management."
