Neymar Snr admits accepting €10M from Barcelona in 2011

The father of Neymar admits Barcelona paid him €10 million in 2011 to secure the former Santos star's commitment.

A further €30 million went to the Neymar family's N & N management company as part of the player's transfer.

"Neymar was only going to leave Santos for Barcelona. It was my job to safeguard that and secure the best possible deal," Neymar Snr told reporters at a press conference in the city of Santos.

Barcelona paid that €10 million to N&N, the company owned by the striker's father, before subsequently shelling out a further €30 million in commission after the deal was completed last year.

"I want Neymar to be at peace so that he can compete in the World Cup free from speculation. That is why we are clearing this whole thing up."
