Newcastle United youngster Conor Newton will join SPL side St Mirren on a six-month deal, and the Paisley outfit want to extend the loan deal of Welsh Under-21 defender Paul Dummett.

Defender Dummett was on target with a goal for the second time this season for the Saints in the 4-3 win over Dundee United.

The Geordie will spend some time during Scotland's short winter break to be assessed by Newcastle coaches, who are keen to monitor his progress, says the Evening Chronicle.
