Newport boss Flynn apologises for leaked Tottenham dossier

Newport County boss Michael Flynn wants to apologise to his opposite number at Tottenham, Mauricio Pochettino.

It appears a dossier that was prepared by Flynn on the Spurs team was leaked, which highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of the Spurs team – and how to exploit them in the match.

Newport got out of the game with a 1-1 draw, which earned them a replay that will take place at Wembley Stadium.

"I've dealt with the leak of the so-called secret dossier manager to manager. It's something we do on every team," said Flynn.

"It is a good tool. It gives you a lot of information, but it is what you do with it that is important.

"It got leaked and there is nothing I can do about it. Things have a habit of coming out – nothing is private these days. But there was no malice in it. I apologised on our behalf to Mauricio for it getting out.

"It was helpful in preparing for the first game against Spurs, because we needed all the help we could get, and we've had other reports done from their games against Liverpool and Manchester United.

"Mauricio and I exchanged numbers before the game in Newport. He shook my hand and gave me his details, which shows the class of him.

"I can't speak highly enough of him; he is one of my favourite managers. We've exchanged a couple of messages back and fore since then and there is no issue. He has bigger things to worry about.

"He's a class act and he will go to the very top because he is that good. That's why Real Madrid are looking at him."
