Newcastle United's South African midfielder Matty Pattison produced a match-winning display on his debut as bottom-of-the-Championship Norwich claimed their first win in 12 games.
Pattison - on loan from boss Glenn Roeder's former club Newcastle - set up both goals to doom Coventry.
First he crossed for Luke Chadwick to head home on 34 minutes. Pattison then set up a close-range finish for Jamie Cureton after the interval.
