Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has dismissed claims from Inter Milan boss Jose Mourinho that he's past his best.

Owen said: "You can look at stats whichever way you want, but in general I've had a good year really in terms of games and goals.

"I have only missed four matches in the last calendar year. Considering what is said about me, it can paint a false picture.

"Just to miss four games in a year is good and the goal ratio is good, too."

Earlier this month, Mourinho said: "The last year he has had serious injuries and he is no longer the Owen we all knew."
