Newcastle's Martins desperate to get back on scoresheet

Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins is determined to break his recent goal drought against Everton today.

"If we get a penalty tomorrow I will take it and I won't miss this time," he told the Evening Chronicle.

"And I think we can take advantage of their tiredness. We must go at them from the first minute because they have had a long week. If we score early it won't help them at all. If we score first we will go on and win."

Martins also revealed he had carried out his own mini spying mission on Everton by taking in their Euro clash in Ukraine, on TV in the comfort of his own home.

He added: "I watched Everton and they played very well.

"But I know that they think the Premiership is most important for them.

"Things can change quickly in football and we know we could overtake them if we win.

"The whole team is looking forward to the game and knows how important it is to go away for the internationals with three points.

"We need them desperately."
