Newcastle's Carver will not hide until he is told to go

John Carver is not about to run and hide as Newcastle United ready themselves for a true relegation scrap.

The Magpies caretaker coach has won just two of 16 Premier League games since taking over from Alan Pardew in January, leaving the north east club deep in relegation trouble.

The 3-0 defeat against Leicester City on Saturday means that Newcastle sit just two points above the relegation zone with three games left in the season.

When asked if there is a possibility that he might not be able to see the job through, Carver said: "I'm not going anywhere until someone comes to me and tells me otherwise.

"I'm not a shirker, and I'm not going to hide from anyone. I'm going to stand there and take it, because I have to.

"I'm not at the end of my tether, let me tell you that. I'm annoyed and angry, and since I've been in this position, I've always tried to be honest and straight with everybody.

"I'm really, really angry - more than you can actually think. And I'm going to fight for this until the death."
