Newcastle United manager John Carver is making no excuses for Moussa Sissoko.

Frenchman Sissoko was sent off during Newcastle's 2-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Monday night for his lunge on Lucas which was his second bookable offence.

Following the game, Magpies boss Carver agreed that Sissoko deserved the red card for his challenge before labeling the tackle as 'indefensible'.

Speaking after the game, Carver said: "The sending off, it could have been a straight red, I will be honest. I have said that to Moussa, I am quite straight and I won't defend anyone if it is indefensible."
