Claudio Cacapa's Newcastle career has taken another dent after it was revealed that the Brazilian defender is unlikely to play again this season.

Cacapa has had a turbulent time at St James' Park since moving to the North East last summer and has cut a peripheral figure under Kevin Keegan.

The 31-year-old has not appeared under Keegan since being taken off in last month's defeat at Aston Villa, and question marks must now be raised over his future at the club.

"We have lost Claudio Cacapa for about five weeks," Keegan said in the Newcastle Chronicle.

"He pulled his groin in training on Friday and that's why Lamine Diatta was in the squad against Fulham on Saturday."
