Newcastle United midfielder Nicky Butt was full of praise for teammate Shola Ameobi after his goal scoring performance in last night's 2-2 draw with Manchester City.

"Shola was brilliant, he did really well," said Butt. "He's only trained for a couple of days but he worked very hard and got the goal he deserved.

"We battled really well. We stuck at it, it was a good team performance and we're disappointed not to get the win.

"They've got a lot of quality going forward, and all the lads were out on their feet at the end. Hopefully that'll show a few of our fans what we're made of."
