Newcastle United fullback Habib Beye has admitted great frustration over his injury problems this season.

Beye told the Evening Chronicle: "The ankle injury wasn't a good time for me as I had not long come back from an Achilles injury. That happened in pre-season but I fought back and was really fit.

"Things were going well until this, and it feels a long time to be out. What can you do? All you can do is recover and come back fit. I know I will be back even stronger.

"It's a big challenge. I've had a great two seasons in Newcastle now and I just want to be back to what I was.

"All I want is to be a good player for this club."
