Birmingham City's bid to take Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton on loan is still not dead.

If Arsenal decide Brum cannot have defender Armand Traore on loan, boss Alex McLeish could still swoop for Barton - as long as Newcastle pay half of the £60,000 wages he receives at St James' Park, says the People.

Barton was back in action for the Toon on the weekend in Ireland.
