Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton is disappointed with the reaction to his tangle with Aston Villa's Gabriel Agbonlahor in the Toon's 2-0 victory on Monday night. Barton appeared to flick a hand towards Agbonlahor's face after being penalised for a first-half foul.
The FA are waiting to see the official's report before deciding if there is a case to answer, with Barton playing under the threat of a six-match suspended ban.
"I thought it was a foul against me, and I had a hold of the ball," he told the Newcastle Chronicle.
"We shook hands after the game and that's the way it is. It was all about nothing.
"Nothing has gone on, people are making a mountain out of a molehill."
