Newcastle United midfielder Vurnon Anita insists Chelsea striker Fernando Torres dived to win his penalty in their defeat on Saturday night.
Anita stuck out a leg to try to prevent the £50million man making his way into the box, which saw ref Phil Dowd point to the spot.
Anita told the Evening Chronicle: "I will learn from this game. I'm improving my skills every time I play for the club.
"We must all learn from our mistakes, and keep on going with the good stuff.
"I felt that I didn't touch Torres. I haven't seen the clip, but I feel that I didn't touch him.
"The referee gave him a yellow card the second time.
"I learn from playing against players like Torres. It's a disappointing result, but it was good to start my first league game."
