Newcastle's Allardyce explains hat mystery

Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce has explained why he was getting round in a woollen hat during Saturday's victory over Birmingham.

Allardyce was told to stay at home because of his chest infection and said: "I was ill. I've wore the hat to keep pneumonia away, the chest is that bad. If I ended up getting soaking wet I could have been in big trouble."
