Newcastle youngsters Taylor, Carroll urged to grab England chance

England's young players are being urged to make the most of the senior squad's World Cup failure.

Newcastle United duo Andy Carroll and Steven Taylor are being tipped to press for selection for the Euro2012 qualifiers.

An FA source in South Africa told the Evening Chronicle: "There's every chance of new blood getting their opportunity in the next couple of years, especially with an important European Championship qualifying campaign coming up.

"There was plenty of hunger displayed by some of the younger German players in the round of 16 meeting with England and that will now be seriously considered.

"There's a chance to be had for the younger players at all of the Premier League clubs and some of them are already in an excellent position if they're in the England Under-21 squad."
