Newcastle United midfielder Vurnon Anita has deflected praise coming his way.

The Dutchman has been on an impressive run of personal form during Newcastle's disappointing run of results.

The former Ajax man told the Evening Chronicle: "I am a player who wants to win games. I always give my best, 100% or more.

"Winning is what it is about for me. It is not like that at the moment but I will keep going and I do have faith we can turn it around.

"We must stick together and try to win games, but I will continue to do my best."
